H&H Single Harvest Madeira 1998
Portugal ➜ Madeira DOC 20.0% ABV
20.0% ABV • Fortified, Fully Oxidized, Oxidative
The H&H Tinta Negra Single Harvest 1998 is a colheita bottling: an early-bottled vintage wine. Made meio doce—in the medium-rich vein of Boal—this edition offers mingled notes of cherry, fig, sultana, bergamot oil and cured tobacco leaves. Full-bodied and complex, this is a superb synthesis of sweetness, volcanic soils and shimmering acidity, which proceed in elegant dance to a lengthy finish. Full details

H&H Single Harvest Madeira 1997
Portugal ➜ Madeira DOC 20.0% ABV
20.0% ABV • Fortified, Fully Oxidized, Oxidative
The H&H Tinta Negra Single Harvest 1997 is a colheita bottling: an early-bottled vintage wine. A distinctive and even notorious Madeira, the 1997 underwent an unusual élevage: some of the blend aging in new Iberian and American oak barrels destined for a Scotch whisky distillery. Made in the "Fine Rich" style—akin to a rich Boal or light Malmsey—it is the wood influence that distinguishes this edition: redolent of golden, vanilla-tinged citrus fruits, smoke and whisky-barrel oak tones—fascinating as it is unique. Domaine du Mas Blanc Banyuls Rimage 1996
France ➜ Roussillon ➜ Banyuls AOP 17.5% ABV
17.5% ABV • Fortified
Produced only in those vintages conducive to the ‘rimage’ expression, the Domaine du Mas Blanc Banyuls Rimage 1996 (95% Grenache noir; 5% Mourvèdre) comes from the upper slopes of the domaine's famed Les Junquets vineyard, where yields are typically just 18-22 hl/ha. Hand-harvested and trodden by foot, the wine was fermented in stainless steel with native yeasts, aging for eight months in large demi-muid prior to bottling. Full details

Domaine de Rombeau Rivesaltes Rancio 1995
France ➜ Roussillon ➜ Rivesaltes AOP 18.0% ABV
18.0% ABV • Fully Oxidized, Oxidative
Domaine de Rombeau is renowned for having one of the most replete libraries of old Rivesaltes in the region, with wines dating back to the early 20th century. The wines highlight indigenous varieties Grenache blanc, Grenache gris and Macabeu, as well as the varied elevage—with wines aged in glass demijohns and ancient barrique, indoors and out—that sets Roussillon apart. Some vintages slumbered in barrel for more than 50 years, and the ascription ‘Rancio’ denotes the prized characteristics that the wines assume over decades. Hand-picked from single barrels in minute quantities, these wines offer a glimpse into the celebrated history of the appellation. Full details

19.0% ABV • Fortified, Fully Oxidized, Oxidative
The H&H Tinta Negra Single Harvest 1995 is a colheita bottling: an early-bottled vintage wine. Made in the “Fine Rich” style, the 1995 boasts 100 g/l of residual sugar—akin to a rich Boal or light Malmsey—exhibiting well-developed aromas of marmalade, coffee liqueur, dark chocolate and dried sultana. Perfectly balanced, there is a refreshing directness in its articulation. Full details
Etter Kirsch Eau-de-Vie 1995
Switzerland ➜ Zug AOP 42.0% ABV
42.0% ABV
The Etter family was distilling kirsch made from one single variety of cherry before the word “vintage” had ever been used. Etter’s old vintage Kirsch “AOP Zug” comes only from years of particularly good harvests of the “Lauerz” mountain cherry, which grows in tall trees located in a sunny position on the Zugerberg mountain. Long storage in 50-litre glass demijohns is necessary for the intensely concentrated flavors to meld together to reveal the true character of each year. Fluctuating temperatures in old barns where Etter “hides” these demijohns enable the young, rather raw, single-variety distillate to mature into a kirsch typical of the year in question. Savor slowly, as the flavors unfold unlike any other fruit brandy. Full details

Domaine du Mas Blanc Rimage ‘La Coume’ 1993
France ➜ Roussillon ➜ Banyuls AOP 17.5% ABV
17.5% ABV • Fortified
Domaine du Mas Blanc Banyuls Rimage ‘La Coume’ 1993 comes from what is perhaps the most prized of all of the domaine's vineyards: Coume del Mas, celebrated not only for its Rimage ‘La Coume’ and ‘Diadème de la Coume’ but as the source of its historic Banyuls ‘Cuvée St. Martin’. East-facing, the 1.5-hectare vineyard sits at 350-meters altitude, overlooking the sea. Soils are the classic poor brown schist and decayed shale, and yields are just 15 hl/ha. ‘La Coume’ is 90% Grenache noir, 5% Mourvèdre and 5% Syrah. Full details

Domaine du Mas Blanc Banyuls ‘Collection’ 1992
France ➜ Roussillon ➜ Banyuls AOP 17.5% ABV
17.5% ABV • Fortified, Oxidative
Harvested from the Domaine du Mas Blanc’s oldest Grenache vines, the Banyuls ‘Collection’ 1992 is a special subset of its Banyuls ‘Vieilles Vignes.’ Hand-harvested and trodden by foot, it was fermented in stainless steel with native yeasts and aged in 650-liter oak demi-muids for 10 years. A single 225-liter barrel was then diverted from bottling and set aside for continued elevage as part of the estate’s library of its most important wines. Dubbed ‘Collection,’ only three vintages have been previously released to the public. Full details

France ➜ Roussillon ➜ Banyuls AOP 17.5% ABV
17.5% ABV • Fortified, Oxidative
A selection of the estate’s oldest Grenache vines, the Banyuls ‘Vieilles Vignes’ 1991 was hand-harvested and vinified traditionally: crushed by foot and fermented in stainless steel with native yeasts, it was aged for 10 years in 650-liter oak demi-muids before bottling. Always limited, a small portion of its production was set aside for inclusion in the estate’s library of its most important wines, a practice inaugurated by Dr. André Parcé in 1947. Full details
