Domaine du Mas Blanc Banyuls ‘Cuvée St. Martin’ 1949
France ➜ Roussillon ➜ Banyuls AOP
17.5% Alc/Vol • Fortified, Oxidative
The Domaine du Mas Blanc Banyuls ‘Cuvée St. Martin’ 1949 represents the legacy of Docteur Parcé and three generations of the Parcé family, a testament to their vision and advocacy of one of the great terroirs of France. Named after the feast day in October when Banyuls grapes were traditionally harvested, it comes from what is perhaps the prized of the domaine's vineyards: Coume del Mas, a 1.5-hectare, east-facing parcel that sits at 350-meters, overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. The Domaine du Mas Blanc Banyuls ‘Cuvée St. Martin’ 1947 is the last vintage made by Dr. Gaston Parcé, the original ‘Docteur Parcé’ who began estate bottling in the early 1920s and was instrumental in Banyuls’ recognition by the French AOC in 1936. It represents the legacy of three generations of the Parcé family, a testament to their vision and advocacy of one of the great terroirs of France. Domaine du Mas Blanc Banyuls ‘Cuvée St. Martin–l’Orange’ 1947
France ➜ Roussillon ➜ Banyuls AOP
17.5% Alc/Vol • Fortified, Oxidative
The Domaine’s old Grenache noir vines have the greatest pedigree of all — hand-carried (with permission) from the Château de Beaucastel in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. The Domaine du Mas Blanc Banyuls ‘Cuvée St. Martin’ comes entirely from parcels exceeding 40 years of age. These wines are the legacy of Jean-Michel Parcé’s forbears, Dr. André Parcé (vintages 1948-1975) and Dr. Gaston Parcé (last vintage 1947). For many years, this wine was the only Banyuls the Domaine produced under its own label. Sotolon Selections teamed with Jean-Michel Parcé to open every bottle, taste the wine, and re-bottle only the best bottles in 375mL format under fresh corks. Full details
