Red Wine
Red wine is typically produced by maceration of dark-skinned grapes in wine as it ferments, a process which imbues the wine with pigments, flavor compounds and phenolics found in the skins. The length of the maceration, or skin-contact, can range from just a few days to several weeks and helps determine the character of the resulting wine, which can vary in color from dark pink to nearly black. (The pulp of nearly all vitus vinifera grapes is pale and the color of the wine made from them is determined by its skins and length of maceration. The only exception to this is the red-fleshed Teinturiers.)
Murgas Touriga Franca 2019
Portugal ➜ Lisboa VR 13.5% ABV
13.5% ABV
Murgas Touriga Franca DOC Lisboa is made from the grapes of the Arneiro vineyard, in Bucelas, in calcareous soils on a slope exposed to the west. Ruby in color, it shows aromas of raspberries and fresh currants, wrapped in notes of pink pepper and woodsy mushrooms. The mouth is enveloping, with very soft but structuring tannins. It ends long and very serious, bringing together the attributes of the great red wines of the region. Full details

13.0% ABV
1ères soifs (premières soifs) means ‘first thirsts’. This ‘vin de soif’ is 100% organic, made with grapes hand-harvested by the Bourrel family on their old-vine Carginan parcel, Les Flamands. Grown at altitude on the far western flank of the Agly Valley in Roussillon, the combination of warm days and cool nights give the wine its fresh, bright fruit and exuberant character, while its rocky schist soils lend depth and complexity.
