Domaine du Mas Blanc Banyuls Rimage 1988
France ➜ Roussillon ➜ Banyuls AOP 17.5% ABV
17.5% ABV • Fortified
Produced only in those vintages conducive to the ‘rimage’ expression, the Domaine du Mas Blanc Banyuls Rimage 1988 (95% Grenache noir; 5% Mourvèdre) comes from the upper slopes of the domaine's famed Les Junquets vineyard, where yields are typically just 18-22 hl/ha. Hand-harvested and trodden by foot, the wine was fermented in stainless steel tank with native yeasts, aging for eight months in large demi-muid prior to bottling. Full details

Domaine du Mas Blanc Banyuls ‘Collection’ 1986
France ➜ Roussillon ➜ Banyuls AOP 17.5% ABV
17.5% ABV • Fortified, Oxidative
Harvested from the Domaine du Mas Blanc’s oldest Grenache vines, the Banyuls ‘Collection’ 1986 is a special subset of its Banyuls ‘Vieilles Vignes.’ Hand-harvested and trodden by foot, it was fermented in stainless steel with native yeasts and aged in 650-liter oak demi-muids for 10 years. A single 225-liter barrel was then diverted from bottling and set aside for continued elevage as part of the estate’s library of its most important wines. Dubbed ‘Collection,’ only three vintages have been previously released to the public. Full details
Domaine du Mas Blanc Banyuls ‘Vieilles Vignes’ 1985
France ➜ Roussillon ➜ Banyuls AOP 17.5% ABV
17.5% ABV • Fortified, Oxidative
A selection of the estate’s oldest Grenache vines, the Banyuls ‘Vieilles Vignes’ 1985 was hand-harvested and vinified traditionally: foot-trodden and fermented in stainless steel tank with native yeasts, it was aged for 10 years in 650-liter oak demi-muids before bottling. Always limited, a small portion of its production was set aside for inclusion in the estate’s library of its most important wines, a practice inaugurated by Dr. André Parcé in 1947. Full details
Domaine du Mas Blanc Banyuls ‘Collection’ 1982
France ➜ Roussillon ➜ Banyuls AOP 17.5% ABV
17.5% ABV • Fortified, Oxidative
The Domaine’s old Grenache noir vines have the greatest pedigree of all — hand-carried (with permission) from the Château de Beaucastel in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. The Domaine du Mas Blanc Banyuls ‘Collection’ comes entirely from parcels exceeding 40 years of age. After 10+ years aging in demi-muid (650-liter barrel), these wines were specially selected for a further elevage in barrique, for at least an additional 15 years. Only one barrel of each vintage remained in August 2017, when the wine was bottled. Full details
Domaine du Mas Blanc Banyuls Sec 1980
France ➜ Roussillon ➜ Banyuls AOP 18.5% ABV
18.5% ABV • Fortified, Oxidative
Produced only in exceptional vintages, when small parcels of old-vine Grenache reach phenolic ripeness at lower potential alcohol levels, the Mas Blanc Banyuls Sec 1980 was hand-harvested and crushed by foot. Its traditional vinfication—with native yeasts in stainless steel tank—was prolonged prior to mutage, resulting in a dry Banyuls with just two-thirds of the residual sugar it typically carries. Subsequent aging is identical to that of the “Vieilles Vignes”: aged in 650-liter oak demi-muids for 10 years prior to bottling. Full details
H&H Boal Madeira 1980
Portugal ➜ Madeira DOC 20.0% ABV
20.0% ABV • Fortified, Fully Oxidized, Oxidative
“Mid-deep mahogany, green tinge; beautiful floral aroma, rose petals; lovely medium-rich flavor, fine and expressive with the concentration of fruit cake and a tang of marmalade towards the finish.” —Richard Mayson, “Madeira: The Islands and Their Wines” (2016) One of the classic white grape varieties of Madeira, Boal is meio doce: medium-sweet, thought to offer Madeira lovers the ideal combination of elegance and richness.
