Cardamaro Vino Amaro

RECIPES

Accidental Cocktail

(adapted from the Occidental, PDT, New York City)

Prepare a coupe rinsed with Elisir Novasalus.

Combine in a mixing glass:

1.25 oz Batavia Arrack van Oosten

0.75 oz orange liqueur

0.5 oz Cardamaro Vino Amaro

1 pinch kosher salt

Stir with ice.

Strain into the prepared glass.

Garnish with an orange peel.

Amaro Manhattan

Stir with ice:

1.5 oz bourbon

0.75 oz Cardamaro

0.5 oz Amaro Sfumato Rabarbaro

Strain into coupe or double rocks glass. Garnish with cherry.

Ambassador of Koin

(Karli Koinzan, Ambassador Hotel, Oklahoma City, OK)

Build in a flute:

1 raw sugar cube

2 dashes Angostura Bitters

1 oz Cardamaro Vino Amaro

0.5 bar spoon Nux Alpina Walnut Liqueur

Stir to combine.

Fill with 4 oz sparkling wine.

Stir to combine.

Careful Whisper

(variation on the Whisper, Savoy Cocktail Book)

Stir with ice:

1 oz Cardamaro Vino Amaro

1 oz Dolin Dry Vermouth de Chambéry

1 oz Cocchi Vermouth di Torino ‘Storico’

1 dash orange bitters

1 dash Angostura Bitters

Strain into a coupe.

Crosstown Traffic

Build in a rocks glass filled with ice:

1 oz Hayman's London Dry Gin

1 oz Cardamaro

1 oz Cocchi Americano Rosa

Stir to combine.

Garnish with an orange peel.

Digging in the Dirt

Build in a highball glass filled with ice:

1.5 oz Salers Gentian Apéritif

1.5 oz Cardamaro

4.5 oz tonic water

Garnish with a lemon peel.

Double Dagger

Stir with ice:

1 oz Hayman’s Royal Dock Navy Strength Gin

0.75 oz Cardamaro Vino Amaro

0.75 oz Aperitivo Cappelletti

0.5 oz Dolin Blanc Vermouth de Chambéry

2 dash orange bitters

Strain into a double rocks glass filled with ice.

Garnish with orange peel.

False Start

Lightly muddle 2 slices cucumber in mixing glass.

Stir with ice:

1.25 oz reposado tequila

1 oz Cardamaro Vino Amaro

0.75 oz Timbal Vermut de Reus Sweet Red

0.25 oz cynar

Fine strain into cocktail coupe.

Garnish with cucumber wheel.

Familia Cocktail

Build in a goblet or coupe:

1.5 oz Cardamaro Vino Amaro

3 oz Cocchi Asti DOCG or other moscato-based sparkling wine

Garnish with a lemon peel.

Freddo Corretto

(Salt Air, Venice, CA)

Shake with ice:

2 oz Cardamaro

1.75 oz cold brew coffee

0.25 oz demerara syrup

2 dash Angostura Bitters

Double-strain into a coupe.

Float 2 oz whipped cream (cream should be lightly whipped and pourable, as with Irish coffee)

Garnish with espresso coffee grinds.

Harvest Cocktail

Stir with ice:

1.5 oz apple brandy

1.5 oz Cardamaro Vino Amaro

2 dash Angostura Bitters

Strain into a coupe.

Garnish with a lemon peel.

A Highball for Monte

Build in a highball glass:

2 oz Cardamaro Vino Amaro

4 oz ginger beer

0.5 oz lime juice

Garnish with a lemon peel.

Jazz Flute

(riff on Gilchrist, PDT book)

Shake with ice:

1.25 oz Scotch whiskey

0.75 oz Purkhart Pear Williams Eau-de-Vie

0.75 oz ruby red grapefruit juice

0.5 oz Cardamaro Vino Amaro

0.25 oz simple syrup

1 dash grapefruit bitters

Double-strain into a coupe.

Garnish with lemon peel.

Lower Heights

Stir with ice:

2 oz Cardamaro

1 oz Pasubio Vino Amaro

2 dashes Angostura bitters

Strain into a coupe.

Garnish with an orange peel.

Lower Manhattan

Stir with ice:

2 oz Cardamaro Vino Amaro

1 oz Dolin Rouge Vermouth de Chambéry

1 dash orange bitters

1 dash Angostura Bitters

Strain into a coupe.

Garnish with an orange peel.

Manna & Thistle

(based on the “Honey & Thistle”, Matthew Schrage, Cambridge, MA)

1.5 oz Cardamaro

0.75 oz Cocchi Americano

1 barspoon Elisir Novasalus

2 oz tonic water

Build in a tall glass filled with ice.

Garnish with a grapefruit peel.

Petit Boulevardier

Build in a double rocks glass filled with ice:

1 oz Cardamaro Vino Amaro

1 oz Dolin Rouge Vermouth de Chambéry

1 oz Aperitivo Cappelletti

Garnish with an orange peel.

Picket Fence

Build in a collins glass:

2 oz Cardamaro Vino Amaro

2 oz non-alcoholic apple cider

2 oz ginger beer

Garnish with a lemon twist.

Piemonte Mule

Build in a highball glass with ice:

1 oz vodka

1 oz Cardamaro Vino Amaro

0.5 oz lime juice

4 oz ginger beer

Garnish with a lime wheel.

Sancti Spiritus

Stir with ice:

1 oz The Scarlet Ibis Trinidad Rum

0.75 oz Cardamaro Vino Amaro

0.75 oz Cocchi Americano Bianco

1 bar spoon Rothman & Winter Orchard Pear Liqueur

Strain into a coupe.

Garnish with a lemon peel.

Separatist

Build in a rocks glass filled with ice:

1.5 oz Cardamaro Vino Amaro

1.5 oz Cap Corse Mattei Rouge

Garnish with an orange peel.
